A Zulu Kings Praise Songs Double Album
by
iNyosi uMdletshe

The Album - Herewith is a celebration and appreciation of those who helped shaped the Zulu nation to its modern status – the Great Zulu Kings that ever lived – a double of 9 Zulu Kings Praise Songs, from iSilo Senzangakhona, iSilo Shaka to iNgonyama uZwelithini. CD One consists of urban beats fused with house, kwaito, hip-hop, dance and reggae with a constant traditional spice of the maskandi Zulu guitar and concertina.  You will enjoy the album from track one to the last track – that is for sure!  CD Two is the accapella version of the praise not tainted with any spice for fear of cultural diffusion.

The Delivery - iNyosi uMdletshe shows a high degree of political intellect – not even common amongst renowned political analysts and commentators. iNyosi uMdletshe displays his deep spirituality through a personal and oral account of his vast historical knowledge of the deeds of those greatest Zulu Kings that ever lived. A person of highest repute amongst cultural enthusiasts iNyosi uMdletshe’s praise songs have been memorized and composed in such a way that every line, which is delivered in true classical, poetic language, is easy to follow and remember (at least by those who speak and appreciate the language).

The Art Form - One of the most widely used poetic forms in Africa; a series of laudatory epithets applied to gods, men, animals, plants, and izigodi (wards) that capture the essence of the object being praised. Professional bards, who may be both praise singers to a chief and court historians of their tribe, chant praise songs such as these of the great Zulu Kings by iNyosi uMdletshe.

Guest Artists:  Jamaicans:  Prophecy (feature on Dinizulu), Sojourner (extra vocals on Dinizulu), Worm (Bass guitar on Dinizulu). South Africa:  Bongo Riot (on Shaka Zulu) King Prophet (feature on Dinizulu), Zola 7 and Zuluboy (feature on Solomon), Valdez (fon Zwelithini, Dingane) Sbusiso Mnduna (bass guitar) Nothi Ntuli (Maskandi guitar), Mlungisi Gegana (bass guitar)
